The Sunday night blues

Do you ever get the Sunday night blues?
You know, that feeling of sadness or heaviness that happens sometime Sunday as you begin to think about the upcoming week.
It just feels different from a Friday afternoon, right?
What do you do about it, if anything?

I’ve always been the type of person who looks forward to school, and to work too! Sunday nights I make sure my grocery shopping for the week is done, and my clothes are clean and ready to go. I love the energy of a new week.
I try to avoid being alone.
Meeting friends until late hours is a good medicine.
I rarely have those Sunday night blues because of my separation of work and play: First, Friday isn’t over until I’ve prepped for the week to come. Then, and only then, the weekend begins. As a result, Sunday’s focus throughout is simply on doing what can be done “off”, whether gardening, socializing, hiking (more hiking), or even finishing up a time-sensitive office project. Sunday night is usually a time of recounting the many good things I enjoyed over the weekend. And when I think about what needs to be done on Monday, it is just a quick review.
Hi all,
I love what I do and I work all kinds of hours…weekends too! And Monday mornings at 8am I start off with my favorite networking Group called Contacts N Coffee, so I am off and running…
I made a conscious decision to spend the second career doing work that I love…and it’s the Best decision I ever made…There are always bumps in the road, but I am in a Jeep and I just bounce right up and down…then it’s smooth sailing again.
Well, I don’t get the Sunday night blues! By Sunday evening, I am filled with an understanding of the value in my life, by the family and friends I treasure, and I’ve had a dose of church during the morning to recharge my batteries. I’m usually wrapping up a variety of communications of family, friends, and professional associates as I get to take a look at what I’ll be setting forth to accomplish in the coming week. I’m charged, eager, and full of feeling loved and giving appreciation!
When I start to feel overwhelmed with the thoughts of the upcoming week, I take action! I start to do things that will better prepare myself for craziness to come. I get a jump on making Mondays lunches, I get karate clothes together… anything that can take some pressure off for the upcoming week. And I get the kids involved… they pick out their clothes for the next day, take showers and begin transitioning from weekend warriors to school-week soldiers
Sunday nite is television night for me. Masterpiece Theatre, Mad Men, The Good Wife.
Best shows are always on Sunday! No blues on Sun for me.

i used to feel like that when i taught school because teaching was just NOT my thing. . even though it is of HUGE value. i now get the sunday night (and every night and day) excited out of my skin because i am doing a business that is FUN, is helping people, is helping people make money and will make me bucket loads of money. I LOVE FUN I LOVE MONEY (for what good i can create with it. . . not the love of money for itself) and I LOVE helping other people make money. i am just plain ecstatic! (gayle, just tell us how you really feel. . lol)
No, some of my weekends are working, some are visiting family, and always Masterpiece Theatre or Who Do You Think You Are.
Thanks for this forum Jodi~
I am familiar with feeling of longing or disquiet on Sunday nights…particularly in the past, but it will still pop up now and again. My favorite antidote is to have friends and family over for supper and music…a loving way to end the week with gratitude and joy! xoxo.
I never experienced Sunday night blues in my 63 years of life. I loved learning at the university, loved my jobs because I chose them. Even when I did not enjoy the way a boss handled his staff and customers, I enjoyed the customers and some of the co-workers. I enjoy serving (helping them). Friday night was never any different that any other. I did not need go to bars to let off steam, or get drunk at parties. If I felt confined, I would go to the cliffs and watch redtail hawks cruise!
